Today, along with our Alliance Partners, I humbly sought the support and blessings from the people of Mungpoo valley for the upcoming general elections.
The entire Cinchona belt, consisting of Mungpoo along with Sitong-Latpanchar, Munsong, and Rongo have been one of the largest employment generating sector in our hills, after tea gardens.
But over the years, absolute apathy and neglect by the TMC government, has brought our Cinchona gardens on the verge of shutting down. Trinamool Congress is a visionless party that is least bothered about reviving the cinchona plantation.
My vision is to transform the entire Cinchona plantations into a hub of Medicinal Plants, Alternative Medicines, Swo Rigpa, Ayurveda and Naturopathy. I want to tie this up with the broader vision of developing our Darjeeling region as a hub of medical tourism. We will assist the people in developing horticulture, agriculture and floriculture in the region. We will assist the people in developing homestays, farm stays, and develop rural tourism infrastructure. Given our strategic location, if we create good healthcare facilities here, we can attract large number of medical patients from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, along with Assam and Bihar. I also have a vision of setting up a Central Institution in Mungpoo since it is centrally located, and a center of Krishi Vigyan Kendra here, so that our farmers can benefit. This way we can create massive opportunities for thousands of our youths to be employed here itself.
Along with ensuring a constitutional solution to our political aspirations, the Central Govt under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji will work to ensure parja patta rights of the cinchona garden and tea garden workers, and also increasing their daily wages.
I want to remind the people that voting for any party or candidate other than BJP, would directly or indirectly be equivalent to voting for Mamata Banerjee and TMC. The same TMC which has systematically deprived our region and discriminated against our people, and is working to destroy the unity among Gorkhas. We should all ensure that we uproot the tyrannical and dictatorial TMC from our region.
I am most grateful to the people of Mungpoo for the warmth and love with which they received us today. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to all those who attended today’s public meeting, particularly GNLF, GJM, CPRM, GoRaNiMo, SuMuMo, and all the BJP leaders and kayakartas.
Unitedly, we will realize our shared vision and aspirations.
